What’s New with Canada SDS Study Visa?
As of August 10, 2023, the IRCC has given the green light to four additional English language proficiency tests for the SDS study visa:
- Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL)
- Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT
Temporary Measures and How to Apply:
1. Language Test Selection:
Even if you’ve taken tests like CAEL, PTE, CELPIP, or TOEFL, select ‘Yes – IELTS’ when asked about your language test in the past 2 years.
2. Minimum Score Clarification:
When asked if your test results were 6.0 or higher, go ahead and select ‘Yes.’ This applies even if you have a score of less than 6 in one or two modules of IELTS Academic.
3. Uploading Test Results:
When uploading your supporting documents, make sure to upload your valid test results. If you have CAEL, PTE, CELPIP, or TOEFL, results, place them in the ‘Proof of IELTS Results’ field.
4. Test Format Matters:
Remember, for the SDS Study visa, only in-person language examinations are accepted. Online test results won’t be considered.
Eligibility and Scores For SDS Study Visa:
Overall IELTS Score of 6:
Yes, it’s official! Individuals with an overall IELTS Academic score of 6 are now eligible to apply for an SDS study visa. Even if you have 1-2 modules with scores lower than 6, you’re good to go.
Specific IELTS General Test Requirement:
If you’re submitting IELTS General test results, make sure you have a score of 6 in each module.
Conclusion:
With these recent changes, the process of applying for a Canada SDS study visa has become more accessible for a broader range of students. Make sure to follow the temporary measures provided by IRCC and check your eligibility based on the new criteria.
