What is Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)?
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) was launched in 1998 as Canada’s first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Designed to grow Manitoba’s economy through immigration, the Manitoba PNP focuses on the province’s economic, demographic, and labor market needs. Nowadays, the program nominates over 4,000 new aspiring immigrants per year through various immigration streams.
MPNP Streams
Applicants can choose from five options:
- Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream
- Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
- Manitoba Business Investor Stream
- International Education Stream
- Modern Community-Driven Initiative
These streams are divided into base and enhanced categories. Enhanced streams are linked to Canada’s Express Entry system, while base streams require direct applications to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Express Entry System
Enhanced streams are linked to Canada’s renowned Express Entry system, a federal economic immigration program that manages permanent residency applications under three key economic immigration programs.
The Express Entry system is point-based, where candidates receive a point score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Candidates with the highest scores receive invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
Those who don’t meet the eligibility for Express Entry can still get a nomination from an enhanced provincial program. A qualifying score in the Manitoba PNP points calculator and meeting other prerequisites will award candidates an additional 600 points, effectively guaranteeing an ITA in a subsequent Manitoba PNP draw.
Stay updated about the Latest Express Entry Draw Updates with +1 News.
Base streams are not aligned with the Express Entry system. Candidates who earn a provincial nomination must apply directly to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
