What is Express Entry and How can I apply?
Express Entry System refers to a system of the Canadian Government for managing applications for permanent residency in Canada. It is a point-based system which is commonly called CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) in which candidates are ranked based on their profiles.
Majorly three programs are managed by this system, which include:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The application for express entry involves a two-step procedure. The first step includes submitting the applicant’s profile with the documents required. These include the result of language tests, educational credentials and passport and travel documentation.

Significant Milestone Achieved in Latest Express Entry Draw
This draw achieved a significant milestone over all the other previously held draws. As compared to the previously held draw which took place on April 26, 2023, there had been a slight increase of 5 points increase in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The requirement for the candidates was set to a minimum CRS score of 488. The draw included candidates from CEC, FSWP and FSTP programs.
It is worth noting that express entry draws of this year have had an unusual pattern. While previously there had been continuing all program draws only, this year, there had been a mix of PNP draws as well as all program draws. Also, while in March, the draws were held weekly, post-March, they have been taking place on a biweekly basis. This whole trend has been making it much more difficult to predict exactly when and on what requirements the next draws would take place, however, it is expected that a pattern may develop as the draws continue.
Next Express Entry Draw
The next Draw is expected to take place on June 8, 2023. These draws usually take place every two weeks; however, their exact timings and frequency go on varying, generally based on the demand existent in the Canadian labour market.
It is important to keep in mind the dates and requirements for the minimum CRS score and the number of ITAs. To remain updated about such details of the Express Entry Draws, one needs to regularly visit the site.
It is expected that IRCC will, over time, introduce certain draws targeting specific attributes of candidates, rather than placing the sole reliance on high CRS scores.
