The New International Experience Canada (IEC) draw of 2024 sent 5,018 invitations for open work permits during the week ending February 11, 2024.
Out of 5,018 invitations, 4,643 invitations were sent out under the Working Holiday category. In 2024, 33,184 invitations have been sent out for the Working Holiday Visa category of the IEC program.
257 invitations were sent for the Young Professional category, and 118 invitations were sent for the International Co-op (internship) category.

The IEC 2024 Season began on December 11, 2023. If you’re a young person from a qualifying country, you can now submit your profile to the pool.
In early January 2024, the Canadian government started sending invitations. Up until now, three draws have taken place this year, resulting in around 27,000 invitations being sent out for the IEC 2024 season.
As of the latest update on February 6, 2024 from IRCC, 80% of the IEC 2024 applications are getting processed in just 5 weeks.
Working Holiday Visa Invitations:
In the latest IEC round of invitations, 4,643 open work permit invitations were sent.
If you qualify for the Working Holiday category, you can get a work permit that lets you work for any company in Canada.
This is great if you don’t have a job offer yet, and you want to work for different employers and travel around while making money.

Young Professionals Invitations:
In the latest IEC round of invitations, 257 invitations were sent in this category.
The Young Professionals category provides a work visa linked to a specific employer for eligible applicants from certain countries.
To qualify, you must have a real job offer from a Canadian company that supports career growth. You also need to commit to working for the same company and at the same location.

International Co-op (Internship):
In the latest IEC round of invitations, 118 invitations were sent under this category.
In the International Co-op (Internship) category, if you’re a post-secondary student with a job offer for a work placement or internship in Canada, you can get a work visa for that specific employer.
It’s a way for students to gain work experience in Canada while finishing their education.

IEC 2024 Fees
To apply for IEC 2024, you need to pay $172 CAD. If you qualify, it’s recommended to apply for a Canadian work permit every week.
The application cost varies based on the program you choose. For the Working Holiday program, the fee is $100 CAD. Young Professionals and International Co-op candidates don’t have extra fees, but employers need to pay a $230 CAD compliance fee. If biometrics are needed, there’s an additional $85 CAD fee.
You can get a refund in certain situations, like if you withdraw before getting the Port of Entry (POE) letter or if your work permit application is rejected.
