What are Category-based Express Entry Draws?
In May of last year, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) shared news about a new way of inviting people to apply for Express Entry. Instead of inviting everyone at once, they now invite candidates based on specific categories.
These categories focus on individuals with certain skills or qualities that Canada needs to boost its workforce and economy. For example, one category is for Express Entry candidates who can show they are proficient in French.
The other five categories are for candidates with work experience in sectors where Canada currently lacks enough workers.
