On December 19, 2023, the latest Express Entry draw targeting trade occupations sent out 1,000 invitations to apply for permanent residency (PR).
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score increased by 37 points to 425 in this draw as compared to the previous trades occupation draw of August 3, 2023.

This is the 5th Express Entry round of invitations in December, after a pause in November 2023.
In the previous draw on December 18, 1,325 candidates got Invitations to Apply (ITAs). To be eligible, candidates needed a minimum CRS score of 542.
IRCC usually announces Express Entry draws every two weeks. However, there were no draws between October 26 and December 5, lasting for 5 weeks.
In a positive turn, IRCC conducted three consecutive draws from December 6th to 8th, inviting 11,650 profiles to apply for permanent residency. Two more draws are scheduled for this week.
Express Entry candidates in the pool can breathe a sigh of relief, but the required CRS cutoff score remains high.
As we start this week, more targeted invitation rounds are expected because the number of invitations in the latest Express Entry draw was low.
